New Innominate mGuard with virus protection to be unveiled at Systems
Berlin, 12 October 2004 - Berlin-based security specialist Innominate is proud to announce that its miniature firewall and VPN appliance Innominate mGuard is now available with optional virus protection. Innominate is incorporating the sophisticated technology of Russian company Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of anti-virus software. Customers will be the biggest winners in this partnership, as they will now get the unmatched security solution with VPN, firewall, and anti-virus functions. The new Innominate mGuard with optional virus protection will be presented for the first time at Systems 2004, in Hall B2, Booth 614 (TLK Kommunikationssysteme).
The Innominate mGuard's new anti-virus function provides the highest level of security, with automatic updating of the latest virus patterns from Kaspersky Lab. The Innominate mGuard automatically downloads the latest anti-virus updates from Kaspersky Lab' databases at individually defined intervals ranging from 15 minutes to 24 hours.
The new Innominate mGuard with anti-virus protection scans all incoming and outgoing emails and monitors all Internet traffic. It also monitors all notebooks when they are re-connected to the company network. If a notebook is infected with a virus, Innominate's new security solution blocks it from accessing the company network. Since the virus scan is carried out in the Innominate hardware, which is switched between the computer and the network, the PC or notebook's performance is not slowed by the scan.
All new Innominate mGuard products also the new mGuard PCI - are now available with optional virus protection, and older devices can be upgraded free of charge. A registration, for which a fee is charged, is all that is required to activate the new security function. And system administrators will be glad to know that the anti-virus function can, of course, be administered and updated centrally via the Innominate Security Configuration Manager.
"In Kaspersky Lab, we have gained one of the world's most acclaimed anti-virus specialists as our partner. And this will allow us to give our customers the highest possible degree of security against one of the biggest threats viruses and worms that are introduced via emails and notebooks," explains Olaf Siemens, CEO of Innominate Security Technologies AG. "That means, our Innominate mGuard now offers a lot more security for individual computer systems and machines."
"We are very pleased that Innominate has integrated our anti-virus technology into its unique hardware-based miniature firewall," says Vitaly Bezrodnykh, Business Development Director of Kaspersky Lab. "Virus protection is a key issue in computer security, and speed is critical. That's why we're the first anti-virus software provider to offer our latest virus patterns on an hourly basis and in urgent cases even more often , so we can provide the highest possible degree of security."
