Innominate moves in to ensure safe and secure videoconferencing:
Innominate mGuard, the world's smallest security appliance, is being further developed for videoconferencing applications
Security solutions provider teams up with video-conferencing specialist Promptus to develop and market security appliances for Internet-based videoconferencing
Berlin/Crows Nest, 21 October 2003 - At a mere 20x56x95 millimeters, Innominate mGuard is the world's smallest security appliance. But its range of applications is about to get bigger as Innominate Security Technologies AG is expanding its functionality to cover videoconferencing.
The Berlin-based security solutions provider has entered into a strategic partnership with Promptus Communications Pty, a video-conferencing specialist based in Australia and the USA. The newly forged alliance encompasses both the development and the distribution of Linux-based security appliances for videoconferences conducted via the Internet.
At the heart of the alliance is Innominate's promise to Promptus to further develop mGuard to secure and protect Internet-based videoconferences. In return, Promptus will market and distribute worldwide and exclusively "Hotlink IP," a firewall/VPN appliance for videoconferencing applications that is based on mGuard.
The Linux-based miniature security appliance features hardware-supported encryption to protect and secure IP (Internet Protocol) communication against attacks, data espionage and manipulation. In addition to videoconferencing, mGuard is also used in industrial automation and point-of-sales (POS) applications.
"Innominate mGuard's superior encryption throughput, ease of use and flexibility make it ideal for securing and protecting videoconferences", explained Michael Smith, President and CEO of Promptus Communications.
"Promptus is extremely well positioned for marketing video-conferencing encryption products. Promptus' strong expertise and extensive distribution network will allow us to tap into one of the fastest-growing markets in IT security," said Innominate COO Olaf Siemens.
