The Wolfsburg AG Competence Prize is awarded to Innominate
Wolfsburg AG, an enterprise jointly founded by Volkswagen AG and Wolfsburg municipal authorities, acknowledges the outstanding performance of Innominate, a company specializing in security.
Berlin/Wolfsburg, 30 September 2003 - Innominate Security Technologies AG has been awarded Wolfsburg AG's "Promotion" Competence Prize in the information technology category. With this award, Wolfsburg AG, an enterprise jointly founded by Volkswagen AG and Wolfsburg municipal authorities, recognizes the outstanding performance of the Berlin-based security specialist in the field of "Network Embedded Systems", the focus of this year's IT category. In the face of stiff competition from around 50 other companies, Innominate Security Technologies AG won over the panel of judges through its clear focus on industrial customers, the clearly presented customer benefits, and the ease of use of its Linux-based "Innominate mGuard" security appliance.
The "Promotion" Competence Prize, worth Euro 25,000 in prize money, is awarded once a year to four young companies for outstanding achievements in the fields of mobility, leisure, information technology and health. It forms part of the promotional program for start-ups run by the "InnovationsCampus" business unit of Wolfsburg AG.
Only 20x56x95 millimeters in size, "Innominate mGuard" is the world's smallest security appliance for safeguarding networks. It is used in industrial automation in robots or machines and in point of sales applications such as cashdesk systems and automatic tellers. mGuard protects IP (Internet Protocol) communication against attacks from viruses, data espionage and manipulation. Its open structure makes it easy to integrate it into any industrial product or device and point of sales system.
In his presentation speech, Prof. Christian Müller-Schloer from the Institute for Systems Engineering of Hanover University, a member of the panel of judges awarding the Competence Prize, praised Innominate's positioning as a supplier of an open security appliance: "Innominate has identified and exploited a niche in the fast-growing market for Internet security solutions. This provides the company with a sound business platform and, most importantly, an opportunity to expand its position in the long term."
