World's first strong, secure TCP/IP camera for WLAN

Lichtenau/Berlin, 20 July 2003 - LS telcom AG (ISIN: DE0005754402) and the Berlin-based Innominate Security Technologies AG today introduced the "HawkEye Secure System", the world's first professional high-performance webcam with secure video image transmission via TCP/IP-based mobile networks.
Through integration of powerful mGuard hardware, the mobile transmission route of the closed camera system is encrypted with triple DES (3DES/168 Bit) in real time. The outdoor-capable "HawkEye Secure System" developed by LS telcom consists of high-quality TCP/IP-capable digital cameras, Innominate's mGuard security modules and wireless transmission units (WLAN access points). For the first time ever, thanks to the integrated web server and high-performance encryption hardware, a centrally controlled, professional transmission and maintenance of digital image files is now possible in both interior and exterior areas for up to 50 cameras simultaneously on normal PC hardware via radio.
Dr. Georg Schoene, Member of the Executive Board of LS Telecom, explains: "In the interests of our customers, during the concept phase it was decisive for us to integrate an encryption procedure which was uncompromising both in terms of security as well as absolute performance data. WEP, WPA/802.11i and 802.1x are all vulnerable in terms of cryptography. Another solution, secure encrypted VPNs, have always been extremely time consuming to configure or could only offer lower performance levels. By integrating Innominate's innovative mGuard solution in our HawkEye system, we have found the perfect answer. Transparent plug&play installation and triple DES encryption in real time at up to 50 Mbps open up new dimensions in performance and customer satisfaction."
