Berlin, 18 February 2003 - Innominate Security Technologies AG, the Berlin-based manufacturer of security appliances, announces the market introduction of mGuard. This Linux-based miniature security server supplies a combination of firewall and VPN (Virtual Private Network) functions with hardware-supported encryption and optional anti-virus scanning. With dimensions of just 20x56x95 mm, mGuard incorporates features which until now have only been offered in considerably larger and more expensive models. The security solution has been specially developed for use in office and industrial environments and will be presented for the first time in Germany at CeBIT 2003 in Hall 17, Stand F18. The cigarette pack-sized server is currently being introduced at the Intel Developer Forum in San Jose, California.
The patent-pending Transparent Mode, developed by Innominate, allows mGuard to be utilized for the protection of computer and embedded systems without configuration or administrational effort. Furthermore, the security functions implemented by Innominate prevent readout or manipulation of data and applications.
With its compact form, mGuard is especially suited for the protection of desktop PCs and mobile computers. In addition, its autonomous mode of operation allows uncomplicated integration in a diverse range of industrial products, including medical instruments, point-of-sales devices, automatic control technology and ticket machines, guaranteeing the secure IP communication of these devices.
By using a modified version of the Linux operating system, developed by Innominate especially for mGuard, the security appliance's scope of functions can be modified and expanded at will. Thus, mGuard is ideally suited to meet the special requirements of various sectors, such as retail, automation, industry and telecommunications.
