Berlin-based security specialist strengthens its market position with a new version of its miniature firewall and security appliance
Innominate mGuard adds several functions to provide optimum hardware-based security for individual computers or devices in small, medium, and large IT networks
Berlin, 5 July 2004 - Innominate Security Technologies AG is proud to announce the release of Innominate mGuard 2.0. The new version of Innominate's widely acclaimed miniature firewall and security appliance comes with a number of new functions for providing hardware-based security for individual computers or devices. The new Innominate mGuard offers even more security for individual workstations in small, medium, and large networks.
Innominate mGuard Professional 2.0 is designed to protect a single computer or device while, at the other end of the spectrum, Innominate mGuard Enterprise and Innominate Enterprise XL were developed to protect individual workstations in large and extra large networks. Both new enterprise editions are equipped with a security management system that allows trouble-free management of several hundred Innominate mGuards and all the security components connected to them via simple drag-and-drop actions.
"Our Innominate mGuard 2.0 is more than a new version. It's currently the only solution available on the market that provides hardware-based security for individual computer systems or devices. With Innominate mGuard Professional and the two enterprise editions, we can now provide security for every size of network, regardless of whether one, one hundred, or one thousand mGuards are used," explained Olaf Siemens, COO of Innominate Security Technologies AG.
A highlight of the new Innominate mGuard Enterprise is the fact that it supports integration into SNMP-based network management systems. SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) allows centralized management of multiple network components, which makes it substantially easier to monitor and administer the sometimes hundreds of security appliances employed in large networks. In addition, the Enterprise edition also has a new remote logging function that enables easier integration into intrusion detection and prevention systems.
Another important new feature of Innominate mGuard 2.0 is the capability for defining firewall rulesets in a VPN, which provides higher degree of security. This is especially important when connecting a home office to a company network. Innominate's new miniature firewall also supports Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and additional dynamic Domain Name Service (DynDNS) providers, making it possible for computers with dynamic IP addresses to always "talk" to each other with the same name.
