Innominate presents mGuard next generation firmware
PKI certificates – multiple VPN tunnelling – QoS
Berlin, 16 April 2007 - At this year’s Hannover Messe, Innominate will present its new mGuard firmware, which permits secure and user-friendly access to industrial plants and machines. mGuard 5.0 firmware, in combination with the Innominate Device Manager (IDM), supports modern remote maintenance scenarios. The new functions will be presented live at the Innominate stand in the Digital Factory, hall 17, stand B54.
PKI certificates for mGuard industrial firewall appliances With the new mGuard firmware 5.0, mGuard firewall appliances and the Innominate Device Manager (IDM) offer complete support for standard PKIs (Public Key Infrastructures) with X.509 certificates and RSA keys. "VPN connections for teleservice applications via the Internet can be set up securely, reliably and in scalable manner," says Torsten Rössel, Director Business Development at Innominate. "Automated creation and assignment of digital certificates via the Certificate Authority (CA) integrated in the IDM offers an alternative to the use of insecure pre-shared keys."
Multiple VPN tunnelling / mGuard Tunnel Group Option For the first time ever, with the new "mGuard Tunnel Group option", an unlimited number of VPN tunnels can be used during definition of one VPN tunnel. In combination with the IDM’s Certificate Authority to central mGuard VPN gateways in teleservice scenarios, a highly scalable number of possible VPN connections can be configured.
Quality of Service (QoS) support The new QoS (Quality of Service) function integrated in mGuard appliances supports the targeted prioritisation of data streams for narrow-band connections. With the QoS function, the required bandwidth can be guaranteed for important transmission channels. QoS capability in mGuard appliances is a very important feature, both for the transmission of video data and for comprehensive downloads in remote maintenance scenarios.
